It’s the seventies. Surili, a young school going girl living with her parents and younger brother in New Delhi, is enjoying her summer vacations. A very attractive young college boy moves into a flat bang opposite theirs, and Surili has an instant crush on him. But to her dismay, he doesn’t even seem to be aware of her existence. So Surili consults her Guru and best friend Baby, her neighbour and a „miss know it all?, on mission „befriending Gaurav?. In between her „Gaurav dreams?, Surili also has to deal with Guddu (her younger brother and the epicenter of many hilarious moments) and family (read that as mainly Mummyji’s) tensions. Surili’s Pappaji dotes excessively on his younger brother (Chachaji), which results in a sulking and sarcastic Mummyji shooting acid-tongued arrows at Pappaji. And then, quite out of the blue, Chachaji buys a brand new house and invites all for its „Grihapravesh? puja. So what happens at the Grihapravesh function? Does Baby?s advice work for Surili and does she successfully befriend Gaurav? Read this sweet, coming-of-age story to find out…

This is an immensely readable book with plenty of laughs. I have just finished reading it for the second time and it hasn’t lost its freshness. The characters seem very real and are very relatable. For a first book the author has done a very fine job. One thing for sure when one reads it one is totally lost in the book and it’s flavour of the seventies! Grab a copy today!!

Summer of 72- Sunny Side Up’ is a very beautifully written book with an interesting storyline. Dint feel like keeping the book down once i started reading it. The author has done a very good job on the book by writing it in a simple language. The story has a lot of humour quotient in it and some parts are hilarious. The comic timing is perfect. The character of Surili is very interesting. Also her relationship with her family members and friends is beautifully expressed.
